Expert Seminar on Jatropha curcas, agronomy and genetics

Organised by Fuels from Agriculture in Communal Technology (FACT)

Dates: 26-28 March 2007, Location: Wageningen, the Netherlands

The background for this seminar is the Jatropha curcas R&D program that FACT is implementing together with the Wageningen University and Research Center (WUR - PRI). 

The first aim of this seminar is to exchange the latest (research supported) knowledge and experience on Jatropha and all its agronomic aspects. A second aim of the seminar is to initiate an open source expert research network for R&D on Jatropha. This means that we will develop an internet site where we share all available information to everybody worldwide.

Generic presentations will give a context to the meeting and go into detail on specific issues. In working group sessions on specific topics crucial facts and information will be delivered and critically examined. The results and papers to be presented at the seminar will be published on our website to the benefit of all those considering or already involved in Jatropha production.

Issues to be dealt with are:

  Discussion about the topics will results in statements/ recommendations to what research is needed, what information should be collected, what projects should be implemented, what donors should be approached, how the information will be shared.
